While I still believe the industry is still very fragmented it has been wonderfully rewarding to help individuals stay safe at home. One of the take aways from my ECHM training is the continued need to have the patient centered and home centered approach to home evaluations and modiducations.

Thrive for Life is a private company founded by two occupational therapists serving the islands of Hawaii. They utilize a 7-step process that includes performing comprehensive home assessments after which draftsman, contractors, and designers are brought in to determine appropriate modifications. Thrive for Life guides their clients through the process including collecting contractor bids, filing for permits and conducting a post-construction assessment where they observe the client in their new space.

I am a licensed occupational therapist in the state of Georgia who specializes in home accessibility and aging in place. As an occupational therapist, I am clinically trained to assess a person’s abilities, understand what daily activities are important them, evaluate the environment in which those activities are performed and find a solution that will allow for the successful participation in those activities.

In 2012, I founded EnABLE Home Solutions LLC to address the growing desire among homeowners to remain at home despite their changing needs and abilities. Combining my healthcare experience with my accessibility training, I bring a unique set of skills to the issues of aging in place and accessibility.

I assist clients and families with modifications related primarily with bathroom safety/access and entryways. Recommend DME or retail available items which will facilitate task completion in their home environments. These conditions can be short term or long term need. As an OT, I understand medical conditions, their affects on self care and mobility, and I am uniquely able to help clients make the best home modification decisions.

At ElderVibe we do home safety assessments and develop safety action plans to assist our clients in Aging in Place. We have a network of high quality contractors and home modification specialists to complete level of project. First and foremost we listen to our clients needs and wishes.

I assist individuals that have been hospitalized in transition to home with home safety assessments and recommendations. I am looking to start my own business to meet my community’s need for aging in place.
