Impacting Consumers’ Use of Universal Design: An Academia and Corporate Collaboration
The University of Southern California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology collaborates with The Hartford Center for Mature Market Excellence® to conduct research and training that supports homeowners’ ability to live in their home for a lifetime. Research has examined the impact of homeowner education at the time of a claim to impact decision-making about home modification. USC conducts a 6-week online training program for Hartford affiliated contractors approximately four times a year to support contractors’ recommendations of universal design features and how best to educate homeowners on the benefits of a supportive home environment.
Key staff have recently presented on these projects at the American Society on Aging conference and the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics Conference (IAGG). This IAGG PDF summaries our efforts.
